【大紀元2013年07月17日訊】(大紀元記者鍾元臺灣臺北報導)曾為迪士尼動畫團隊少數華人動畫家，現任美國肯渡製片（Kendu Films）總裁的劉大偉，16日在臺北舉行《別把鑽石當玻璃珠》新書發表會，劉大偉在臺灣臺中出生，從小成績一直墊底，不管他多努力認真，都無法達到父母、老師的要求與期望。有自卑感的他，在國二時全家移民美國後，在得到來自希臘的凱斯美術老師認可和鼓勵下，他在繪畫中找回自信、改變了一生。

劉大偉參與過迪士尼著名動畫《獅子王》、《美女與野獸》、《阿拉丁》、《風中奇緣》等作品的製作與設計。他也在喬治盧卡斯導演旗下所創立的公司擔任藝術指導，參與好萊塢經典科幻電影《星際大戰》、《科學怪人》動畫片的製作、布景設計、3D模型設計等，他多次得大獎。

從小被當成「笨小孩」

劉大偉的父親生為山東大地主家庭一員，抗日戰爭爆發加入國民黨的軍隊，到處征戰打過共產黨，最後跟著國民黨政府來到臺灣。他們家採行軍事化管教，他的日常生活是上學、回家補習、彈鋼琴，「功課做完沒？鋼琴練好沒？是他和老爸老媽的日常對話。」但劉大偉對這些都沒興趣，只喜歡在課本空白處亂塗鴉，由於課業達不到老師和父母期望，只能在棍棒皮帶與眼淚齊飛的生活裡，尋找唯一能開心的時刻，「只有畫畫，每天晚上上床後，在這個只有自己的時光裡，我拼命畫畫，果然只是個笨小孩」。

上美術課遇到貴人

國二時，他們家辦好美國移民，但沒想到新就讀的學校，全校都是黑人，由於突然來了一個瘦小又聽不懂英文的華人，他有幾次被整很慘的經驗，上體育課常常無緣無故一腳踢過來，嚷著說：「李小龍，功夫！功夫！」因為不停地被作弄，他去看了很多部李小龍電影後，「我請老爸買了雙節棍，隨身帶著。平常打扮、走路，也學李小龍的樣子。」

他在學校假裝會打架，虛張聲勢的李小龍，在經歷幾次黑人的挑釁，陰錯陽差靠著機智與勇敢得到尊敬，也不太隨便欺負他了。在美國教會裡別的華人小孩成績都是AA，「只有我是FF，老媽一講到我只有搖頭歎息，簡直就是家族恥辱。」

在畫畫課裡劉大偉遇到美術老師凱斯，看到他的畫說很有「talent」，他查字典原來是誇他有天才、天分的意思。「哇！我開心死了，這還是我第一次得到長輩讚美。」老師的認可和支持，是劉大偉專心繪畫的大轉捩點。凱斯告訴他，無論何時，都可以進她的辦公室，之後老師每次上課都給他很多功課，拿一些畫要他臨摹。
