《THE ORDER 1886》是以 19 世紀維多利亞時代的倫敦為背景的動作冒險遊戲，玩家將扮演菁英騎士團的老練成員加拉哈特爵士與其他騎士團成員，運用自古相傳的刀劍武藝以及工業革命進化的科學技術所帶來的強大力量，一邊鎮壓危害人類之變種半獸人，一邊面對因社會轉型與階級差異所苦而叛變的平民百姓。
Ru Weerasuriya 表示，《THE ORDER 1886》場景設定是維多利亞時代的倫敦，結合史實跟虛構成份。製作團隊竭力表現了 19 世紀的倫敦真實狀態，在其中加入一些虛構元素，遊戲內容。
Ru Weerasuriya 表示《THE ORDER 1886》是針對次世代主機設計的遊戲體驗，而為了讓玩家能夠體驗由 Ready at Dawn 帶來的故事體驗，遊戲將只有單一結局。但透過即時擬真機制，從即時演算的動畫無縫轉移到玩家操作的場景，以電影式規格製作每個環節，讓電影般的演出從虛構設定中感受真實性，並且隨時發生的事件都會讓玩家感受到驚喜，更有代入感。
