漢傳佛教中，菩薩戒有二大傳統
第一個傳統來自於瑜伽行唯識派的《菩薩地持經》
（出自《瑜伽師地論》中），最早由曇無讖傳入

第二個傳統則來自《大梵網經》的菩薩戒經，相傳由鳩摩羅什傳入。其中以《大梵網經》為主流。

藏傳佛教的菩薩戒有兩個傳承
第一個傳承來自寂天《入菩薩行論》與《學處要集》
第二個傳承來自無著《菩薩地論》（同樣出自《瑜伽師地論》之中）。

菩薩戒有分出家菩薩戒、在家菩薩戒兩種。

若依優婆塞戒經受戒品，在家菩薩戒則列六重戒，二十八輕戒。

六重:殺戒、盜戒、大妄語戒、邪淫戒、酤酒戒、說四眾過戒。

【綜合報導】西班牙電子化學技術中心(CIDETEC)研發出可以自我修復的彈性熱凝物，稱為「終結者」(Terminator)，將這種物質切成對半重新接合，在室溫下靜置2小時後，切痕雖然還在，但對半的物質又重新合而為一，研究人員用力拉扯也不會裂開。

研究人員表示先前研發可以自我修復的彈性矽膠，還是需要外力協助才能修復，但現在成功研發出的彈性熱凝物，不只成本較低可開發成商業用，不須任何外力像是加熱或燈照，就能自我修復。
