聲援大埔拆除事件的「818凱道拆政府行動」結束後，聲援群眾突然湧入內政部南棟辦公大樓門外空地，分別堵住前後門，內政部大樓徐州路、濟南路出入口已被約2、3百名民眾佔據，截至目前為止仍未散去，內政部大樓外被貼滿「拆政府」貼紙、噴漆標語及髒話、內政部門外空地還被噴漆「暴政」彩繪。
18日晚間約10點半左右，主導行動的台灣農村陣線與民眾原本聲稱將往行政院抗議，結果是聲東擊西，群眾真正目標是內政部中央聯合辦公大樓，警方措手不及無法阻擋，結果在近11時被數百人湧入，並堵住前後出入口，開始靜坐、講演，內政部公務員星期一恐無法進入。
民眾擋住出入口靜坐後，分別在門口、樑柱上噴漆抗議標語、髒話「幹」、「fuck」等，玻璃上也被貼上各式「拆政府」貼紙，還有群眾拿噴漆在廣場前彩繪「政府暴政」，讓內政部外瞬間成為彩繪廣場。
