溪頭「通量塔」冒險爬20樓高測碳排量

「什麼研究需要爬上20多層樓高塔？」台大森林系研究員在溪頭自然教育園區架設「通量塔」，高40公尺，20幾層樓高，研究員每個月硬著頭皮往上爬，有時還得將身體懸在半空中，風一吹，通量塔也跟著微微搖晃，研究任務不簡單，但卻能測出森林吸收的二氧化碳排放量，將來可作為各國碳權談判依據。

昨天「通量塔」首次曝光，研究員洪志遠說，經過測量的5千多公頃柳杉森林，每年每公頃可以吸收12.94公噸的二氧化碳，約共可吸收碳排量71014公噸，未來還可針對不同的樹種，例如紅檜與柳杉，研究吸收碳排放量的數據的不同。
