Neymar缺席四強賽，巴西隊教頭Luiz Felipe Scolari打算加強防守，採用他2002年率領巴西奪冠的「3-5-2」陣型，力戰德國坦克。

巴西隊陣中沒有可以頂替Neymar的箭頭，Scolari可能改派中場球員上陣，「一支足球隊不是只有攻擊箭頭，」Scolari說，「我們團隊至上，贏球，是大家的勝利，不只有進球者才是功臣。」

這屆世足賽，Neymar進了4球，少了他，當然是巴西隊一大衝擊。不過，巴西隊5場進10球，有一半是中場、後衛的傑作，像是八強賽的兩球，就是Thiago Silva、David Luiz為球隊建功。

「巴西國家隊不只是Neymar而已，」Silva說，「現在，該是這支團隊展現力量的時候。」

Silva這話說得漂亮，但他卻無法上場共襄盛舉，因為他在八強賽領到第二張黃牌，禁賽一場。
