「鋸砲」教練人人都怕，洋基隊連兩季無法晉級，進攻能力薄弱，飽受紐約客批評，尤其是打擊教練Kevin Long，更是球迷指責的箭靶。

洋基隊今年得分633美聯倒數第三，上壘率0.307美聯倒數第二、長打率0.380也只排在美聯第10。多項進攻數據不理想，季中就有更換打擊教練的聲音。

「就我來看，Long總是不眠不休地努力工作，」洋基教頭Joe Girardi說，「他很努力改善球員的揮棒，也會用功收看比賽畫面。」

雖然Girardi為Long發聲，但並不保證教練團成員都能留任。

「每一年，我們都會評估績效，」Girardi說，「我們會盡快評估，但才剛打完最後一場例行賽20小時而已，還沒空坐下來好好討論。」

「我跟每一位教練都有深厚友誼，但這並不是留任的保證。我們連兩季沒有晉級，這教練必須承擔的。」
