Digitimes Research: AMOLED offers competitive wearable displays
Tony Huang, DIGITIMES Research, Taipei [Monday 22 December 2014]
Among display technologies, AMOLED is expected to create niche market opportunities, benefiting Samsung Display and LG Display, the two global leaders in the technology, according to Digitimes Research.
Smart watches and bands, among different types of wearable devices, have relatively low technological entry barriers and therefore are expected to become mainstream of wearable devices in 2015, Digitimes Research indicated.
In comparison with TFT-LCD, Memory LCD, Mirasol MEMS and EPD, AMOLED features flexible display that meets demand for slimness, light weight, low power consumption and convenient appearance design for use in smart watches and bands.
