4日是亞錦賽休兵日，經過激情一夜，中華男籃隊獲得1天休息時間，第2階段賽程也在上午出爐，中華隊將在5日續戰香港。
第1階段被分在A組的中華隊、菲律賓、約旦，第2階段將與卡達、日本、香港「混搭」成E組，6支球隊取前4名晉級8強，對戰過的隊伍不再碰頭，首輪戰績帶進此回合。
中華隊5日碰上香港、6日對決日本、7日強碰卡達，時間都是下午3點，菲律賓、台灣無時差。
香港睽違2屆亞錦賽後再度參賽，受惠於同組的黎巴嫩遭國際籃總（FIBA）禁賽，繼2007年後首度闖過頭關。
以往被英國殖民的香港，在一般人觀念裡面總是與籃球無緣，但近年好手輩出，陣中也不乏長人。 (接下一頁)
