耗資176億元的經國號(IDF)戰機「翔展」專案計畫，16日上午在台南空軍基地舉行接裝典禮，總統馬英九親自南下主持儀式。馬英九在致詞時指出，從小聽媽媽說高志航烈士抗日事蹟長大，對空軍懷有一分敬意。

馬英九表示，IDF剛開始規劃設計的時候，外界就有很多批評、甚至嘲諷，把IDF說成「I Don't Fly」的縮寫，但是經過20多年來使用的結果，所有官兵證明IDF是非常好的戰機，是「I Do Fly」。

馬英九再度談到他當兵服役時的事，他說：「在陸軍受訓、海軍服役，唯一沒有沾邊的是空軍，對空軍非常嚮往。」因為小時候媽媽們說床邊故事，女生聽白雪公主、男生聽俠盜羅賓漢，但他小時候聽媽媽說的是高志航抗日，最後壯烈犧牲的英勇故事，也讓他對國軍，尤其是空軍有著一份崇高敬意。
