澳洲重要反核人士、澳洲環境保護基金會史維尼（Dave Sweeney）說，「真正出錯的是歷屆政府一脈承襲的錯誤政策方針」，核廢等有毒廢棄物的處置，同時是攸關原住民族認可及環境保護的重要議題。綠黨的西澳參議員路德藍（Scott Ludlam）也提到，現有的錯誤政策邏輯不變，莫卡蒂之後，下一個被提名的核廢場址預定地一樣極可能是原住民居住地，沒有資源、沒有錢的部落，這個制度設計並不真正考慮處置、運輸及對當地人真正的傷害，將廢棄物丟到「遠處」，「其實我們（政府）真的不懂該怎麼處置核廢料」。 閱讀全文
