最近交易中，美國股市小幅下跌，布倫特原油觸及二年低點。金融市場的走勢，似乎完全未在意伊拉克的情況。今年稍早，俄羅斯入侵烏克蘭，儘管對歐洲經濟與整體穩定，構成了威脅，市場也同樣未予在意。

這種讓人費解的結果，金融時報分析師伍爾夫(Martin Wolf)提出了獨到的見解。他說：「金融市場很難判斷如何反應國際政治風險，」

「如果這種情況持續下去，這類事件的經濟影響將相對微小，不予在意並無可厚非。」他說。「發生災難的機率相當低。非常低的災難機率，非常難在價格上反應，市場因而加以忽略。」
