波士頓紅襪隊面對美東強隊金鶯隊，靠著中心打線「老爹」David Ortiz、Mike Napoli各敲出全壘打的助威下，以6:2擊敗金鶯隊。

紅襪隊去年拿下世界大賽冠軍，本季主力戰將有所折損，不過火力強大的狀況也沒有改變。

3局上老爹的2分彈先為紅襪打響第一炮，雖然金鶯隊「新同學」Nelson Cruz馬上以本季第2發全壘打追平比分。

但是Mike Napoli又跳出來當英雄，5局敲出2分彈再次超前比分，7局又擊出適時安打追加2分，紅襪隊終場就以4分之差獲勝。

金鶯隊本季找來了好手Ubaldo Jimenez擔任先發位置，不過他第一場比賽主投6局，挨2發全壘打失4分，吞下首敗。
