馬來西亞航空公司客機失蹤超過一個月，搜索客機的曙光卻稍縱即逝。澳洲救援艦「海洋盾號」上周六和周日兩度偵測到疑似客機黑盒子訊號後，沒有再收到疑似訊號，派無人潛水器搜索被迫叫停。

根據滴答網報導，澳洲聯合協調中心負責人休士頓昨(8)解釋，之前收到的疑似訊號，有太多可能位置，這樣派潛水器搜索猶如大海撈針，所以需要再偵測訊號作分析，收窄可能範圍。黑盒子發訊裝置的電池只能支撐約一個月，休士頓表示未來幾日會再嘗試偵測訊號，直至完全肯定電池已耗盡電力。

如到時仍沒收到新訊號，也只能硬著頭皮派水底潛行器「藍鰭-21」號下海，用聲納掃描海床，如發現疑似殘骸帶，就將潛行器上聲納系統換成鏡頭拍攝。 英國「國際海事衞星組織」在客機失蹤當日，除了收到多個每小時一次的通訊衞星聯絡訊號，還在客機發出最後一次定時訊息後的八分鐘，收到一個不完整訊號，相信是客機油盡墜海時發出，位置分析與「海洋盾號」發現疑似黑盒訊號海域脗合。資深機師指客機油盡時可能機身反轉入海，而不是直插海中。
