法新社報導，教宗方濟各周一首次公開提及對自身「死期」的預測，稱上帝將再給他「2或3年」時間，但他不排除在那之前提前退休。
 
77歲的方濟各在離開南韓、返回梵蒂岡的班機上，被記者問到他在全球備受愛戴一事，謙虛地表示，「我視之為上帝子民的慷慨。我試著思考我的罪惡，我的錯誤，不要變得驕傲。因為我知道，這（指受歡迎）不會維持很久。再2或3年，我就會前去天父的家。」（林奐成╱綜合外電報導）
